Linn County

36/5 Community Alliance Leadership Development Program (Linn County)

"Growing New Leaders"

In 2005, the Brookfield Area Growth Partnership launched a comprehensive plan for community development using the framework of Hometown Competitiveness. One of the "pillars" in the HTC plan was that of Leadership. The Leadership Task Force was specifically charged with proactively addressing the erosion of leadership capacity as has been experienced in so many rural communities. The goal of the Task Force has been an ongoing one - to identify, recruit, train, and encourage new leaders by providing them with the necessary leadership skills to improve and sustain their community. After collaborating with Marceline through the Communities of Excellence endeavor, the Leadership Program expanded to include participants from all over the Linn County area and was re-branded as the 36/5 Community Alliance Leadership Program. As of March 2021, 222 citizens will have graduated to become skilled and active leaders in their communities, churches, organizations, schools, workplaces -- and beyond.
